Is willingness to take risks contagious? A comparison of immigrants and native-born

Tuesday, July 29, 2014 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDT
Commerce Building II, 3006

Join us for a presentation by Aigul Mavletova, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Research University “Higher School of Economics”, Moscow, Russia.

In a research collaboration with Dr. James Witte (IIR Director), Aigul Mavletova measures if willingness to take risks is contagious and if this effect is different for U.S. immigrants and native-born. A number of studies show that immigrants are more willing to take risks compared to native populations.

This event is sponsored by the Institute for Immigration Research (IIR) and is part of the IIR Spotlight on Immigration Summer Series. Set on a monthly schedule starting in June and ending in August of 2014, the series will host a variety of events from movie showings to student/community-centered presentations on the issues at hand.

This event will take place at the IIR office building 4087 University Drive, Fairfax VA 22030.
