Institute for Immigration Research

Research Overview

Conducting original, theoretically driven, objective research does not only serve as the mission for the IIR, but as the basis for which we initiate unbiased dialogue about immigrants and immigration to the U.S.  Factual data on immigration is more important than ever before, due in no small part to the current political climate and how deeply divisive the rhetoric surrounding immigration has become.  More times than not, current discourse fails to take important economic and social aspects of immigration into account.  In an effort to inject facts to counter falsehoods, the IIR conducts interdisciplinary academic research to address empty rhetoric and educate the public about the positive impact immigrants have on the country, the economy, and our communities.
