Meet a Salvadoran Immigrant

Carlos Castro was born in Playitas, La Union and raised in San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador. He left El Salvador when he was 25 years old due to the civil war (1980-1992). He has owned and operated many businesses in Northern Virginia. Currently, Carlos Castro successfully owns two Todos Supermarkets in the DC metro area. Todos Supermarket first opened in 1990 to fulfill the needs of the growing Latino community and eventually expanded to serve other communities. Carlos Castro’s Todos Supermarket not only offers products, but also operates as a pillar of the local community. Carlos says, Immigrants contribute in the society by being workers and consumers. When it comes to people from Latin America, we create jobs, we start small companies."
