IIR Welcomes Aditi Goel, Graduate Research Assistant

We are delighted to welcome Aditi Goel, first-year PhD student in the Department of Communication as a Graduate Research Assistant. With a background in public administration and communication, Aditi has long been interested in the ways policies and stories shape people’s lives. Having worked with groups such as the Meditation Museum and having started several initiatives of her own, Aditi has more than six years of experience in social media and organizational outreach.

In her role at the IIR, Aditi will be leading communication efforts, including internal updates, newsletters, event promotion, and digital outreach, highlighting the important work of Mason faculty and partners in the region. Aditi describes her guiding principle in one word—contributing. For her, the goal is both simple and ambitious: to ensure that meaningful work and personal stories do not go unheard.

One of the projects she is currently working on – Leaving and Belonging – explores immigration through the lens of storytelling, inviting us to pause, listen, and perhaps recognize a piece of ourselves in someone else’s experience. Though she considers herself an introvert, Aditi is very passionate about finding the invisible threads that connect people and highlighting those shared experiences. She reminds us that “we all have something in common”.

By combining her skills in communication with her passion for amplifying voices, Aditi is excited to grow with the IIR and support its mission of highlighting immigrant experiences in ways that connect us all.
