Aditi Goel
Graduate Research Assistant
Mental health, Interpersonal communication, Role conflict, Mindfulness
Aditi is a first-year PhD in Communication student. What motivated her to join the IIR is the role that she will be playing in helping with social media, conducting research, all while uplifting diverse voices. Having facilitated various mindfulness sessions on campus and off, she realizes the importance of mental well-being and its impact in the various roles we play throughout the day. She believes meditation/mindfulness is an essential tool in sustaining mental well-being as it affects our qualities of leadership, creativity, and collaboration.
Aditi served in various roles during her undergraduate, including being a peer academic advisor for the Schar School of Policy and Government. She earned her Master's degree in communication and now seeks to expand her knowledge base in the same field.
Aditi has worked with the EYL 365 organization, facilitating mindfulness and mixed media sessions for underprivileged students with ages ranging from 4 years old to 60 years old. She has also been a mindfulness facilitator for the non-profit, Safe Haven Space, which seeks to expand mental health service for the refugee population. Along with these roles, she continues to volunteer at the Meditation Museum, organizing events and workshops catered to healthy living and stress management, while also helping with outreach in the DMV area.
Along with her involvement with various mindfulness activities on campus and off, she loves interacting with new people. Some of her other interests include baking, chess, dance, and video editing. She strives to embody and inspire virtues of compassion in all that she does.
